Founder of Kültür Educational Institutions and Honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees of İstanbul Kültür University, Civil Engineer, MSc. Fahamettin Akıngüç

Fahamettin Akıngüç, having completed his primary, middle and high school education in Eskişehir, graduated from İstanbul Technical University Civil Engineering Department. He worked as a civil engineer and building contractor from 1950 to 1958. He established Kültür College in 1960. He accomplished many 'firsts' during his 12 years of employment as the manager of Kültür College.

In 1978, when Kültür College was on hiatus, he established the Publication Printing Training Tools and Equipment Company (YA-BA). As the manager of that company, he published the ‘School Units magazine’ (1980-1993) for children and elementary school students and ‘Steps toward University Entrance’ for university candidates (1981-1985).

Fahamettin Bey re-opened Kültür College in 1980.  In the new structure, he worked as the general manager of Kültür College.  He also worked as the Chair of Private Schools Association board.  In 1986, he began publication of the journal ‘Yaşadıkça Eğitim’.  He established the Kültür Educational Foundation (KEV) with his family in 1989.  He laid the foundation work of Istanbul Kültür University which is sponsored by KEV.  In his speech for the 30th anniversay of Kültür College in 1990, Fahamettin Bey summarized his lifetime philosophy:

 ‘Being a teacher is a way of life. So far I have had that. After that, I cannot imagine a better, more efficient and a happier life than this.‘

Fahamettin Akıngüç has continued his educational leadership as Chairman and Honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees in İstanbul Kültür University since 1997.

 

Head of Board of Directors in İstanbul Kültür Educational Institutions: Ful Akıngüç 

Ful Akıngüç  completed her primary and middle school education in Kültür College.  Following that, she graduated from Management-Statistic Department of School of Economics in İstanbul University.  She received a graduate degree from the Control Data Institute of London in Computers and Programs.  She worked for three years in the System Support and Program department of the NCR Information Technology Company and in Akbank’s IT Department for another two years.  After completing her teaching certification training in Marmara University, Ful Hanım decided to work for Kultur College where she established the Kültür College Education and Administration Computer Systems and founded the Information Technology Center.

She worked on the establishment of Kültür2000 College which opened its doors in 1998.

Since 2000, Ful Hanım has been working as a Board Member in the Association of Turkish Private Schools.  In addition, she has served as a member of the Higher Advisory Board in the Association of Turkish Private Schools for the last two years.

Having undertaken various positions as Deputy General Manager, General Manager, and Executive Board Member/Chairman as of 1997, Ful Hanım currently works as Head of the Board of Directors of the İstanbul Kültür Educational Institutions.  In addition, she is the Vice President of the Board of Trustees for İstanbul Kültür University.

 

Member of Board of Directors in İstanbul Kültür Educational Institutions: Lale Akıngüç

Lale Akıngüç was born in İstanbul. Having completed her primary, middle, and high  school education at Kültür College, she graduated from the English Language Department at Marmara University.  She continued her studies in language teaching in the United Kingdom before working as an English teacher and deputy director at Kültür Primary School.

She has worked intensively in the areas of foreign language education, connecting primary years to middle school years in the Turkish education system, increasing general kindergarten enrollment in Turkey, and developing early childhood education.  She led the establishment of kindergarten divisions in Kültür College. 

She has been working in various administrative positions such as Deputy General Manager, General Manager, and Executive Board Member/Chairman for the İstanbul Kültür Educational Institutions since 1987.  Lale Akıngüç Sevgen currently works as a member of the Board of Directors of İstanbul Kültür Educational Institutions and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Kültür Educational Foundation. 

 

Member of Board of Directors in İstanbul Kültür Educational Institutions: Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver

Bahar Akıngüç Günver completed her primary education at Kültür College and her middle school and high school education at Robert College.  She graduated from the School of Economics at Boğaziçi University and received her graduate degree in Education Management from California State University. She received her doctorate from  İstanbul University’s School of Economics in  Behavioral Sciences.  Bahar Hanım participated in the Certificate Program of School Leadership at Harvard University in 2005.  After working on the foundation of Kültür Koleji Science High-School, she worked as a mathematics teacher and principal at this school.  She participated in the foundation of  KÜGEM (Istanbul Kültür Educational Institutions Development Education Center).

Having worked as Deputy General Manager and General Manager in Kültür College, Dr. Günver currently works as the Chairman of Board of Trustees of İstanbul Kültür University as well as a Member of the Board of Directors in İstanbul Kültür Educational Institutions and Publishing Director of the journal 'Education in Life'.
