PURPOSES OF THE VISUAL ARTS COURSE

  Individuals with the following characteristics and a society formed of these individuals are aimed

. Adopting the aim of life that forms the present and future of the societies,

. Developing world perception and interpretation competency,

. Approaching social development and nature sensitively,

. Being able to respond to the new impacts and initiatives incorporated by the fast changing communication and interaction environment and facilities into the individual and social life dynamics,

. Having inquiry awareness,

. Being able to produce new solutions for the problems that the scientific and technological changes and transformations create in societies,

. Being able to express oneself, equipped with positive qualifications,

. Being aware that art is a value that honour individuals and societies.

VISUAL ARTS EDUCATION

   While art education aims to help people in making aesthetic judgement it teaches to feel new shapes, have fun and direct his sensations correctly. It is not for training artists but to direct everyone in creativity and meet his intellectual, cognitive, sensory and emotional needs. It endeavours to train creative power and potentials and organize aesthetic thinking and consciousness.

   Art is necessary as it enables the person to arrange his social relationships, cooperation and contribution, being able to chose and express the correct thing, experience the happiness of starting and completing a work and be productive. Art education supports observation, original creation and personal approaches and develops practical thinking. In increases the power of realizing events in the mind without their happening. It develops the manual skill of the individual and helps him in analyzing. The following areas are developed:

. The students’ developing creative behaviours that they can use in every area,

. Noticing the affect of points, lines, colours, shapes and stain repetitions in visual fibre formation and being able to use it in their works

. Learning the basic elements of painting (ratio-proportion, light, shadow, etc.)

. To be able to differentiate which branch of visual arts a work belongs in

. To be able to recognize that taste may differ according to education, culture and other factors

. Being able to make visual woks that reflect and promotes his national culture

. To be able to differentiate visual figuration elements in his works and the artworks he observes.

. To be able to differentiate the abstract and concrete expressions in artworks

. Knowing various art terms

. To be able to form original compositions with using artistic regulation principles

. To be able to take an aesthetic judgement of the artwork he sees

. Being able to express his feelings, thoughts and artistic impressions with various visual art techniques

. Making compositions with geometric shapes

. Learn about various paints and materials

. Have information on painters and their movements

. Make reproductions of important painters.
